TAO Fantasy Football 2018

I renewed the league a while back as I got an email that said Lex wanted it renewed. I think it's normally renewed around late-June/July, so I figured I'd make a thread reminder that the league is back up.

One thing I kinda expect is that we will mostly want to draft either August 24/25/26 (weekend of Preseason week 3) or August 30/31 (Preseason week 4 games).

Thursday September 6th is the first regular season game, so September 1st and 2nd are the Sat/Sun before week 1.

My issue is that I get married August 24/25/26 and then go on Honeymoon August 30-September 3. I can do a predraft rankings and autodraft and I am competely okay with that given I set up a custom ranking. I think though that the group might want someone else as commish though as I wouldn't be on and you'd want someone that could be able to lengthen or shorten pick times or fix a draft order or whatever. If someone wants to be commish, I'm cool with it.

I'm getting married this upcoming weekend so I haven't researched fantasy much this season, but I'd guess Dalvin Cook and a pretty elite WR should be available I'd think

like Zeke Bell Johnson and Gurley are some order of the top 4 picks then Barkley Hunt Kamara and Brown are in the mix for by pick 10 so thats 8 picks then only two others will be gone like Odell Julio or whatever. I'd think Cook and like Hopkins or whatever would be good, but maybe I'm missing someone obvious

edit: I was think picks 11 and 12. For 10-11 basically whoever listed that I liked and byes made sense based off other targets later.

If you can get OBJ or Hopkins I'd definitely do that, pair with best RB remaining depending on your taste. Hunt/Cook/Fournette/Gordon. Personally I like Gordon a lot I think their o line is gonna be better. I would avoid Julio potentially, he is very boom or bust often, although we all know what he can do.

I agree on Cobb and Goodwin being kinda underrated, but I don't know about Dak. Maybe you're right bdog. Maybe he will be a good value. I find it hard to believe that he'll run for 6 TDs again, and I'm concerned about his pass catching options. Bryant aside, who he had terrible chemistry with, Jason Witten, Mr. Reliable, is gone. It's not too crazy to think he'll be more efficient with a full year of Zeke, but the Cowboys just lost their All-Pro center and their best pass catching options are Cole Beasley and Allen Hurns. Whether or not you believe in Michael Gallup, the two above him aren't exactly striking fear into DBs.

Also bdog is more of a Romo lover than a Dallas homer.

yeah i agree he won't be in the hof, but purely because of injuries and lack of...team. i definitely think though if he had a little better of a team around him, things would be different. eli manning is a likely hall of famer - if romo had been a giant, they have AT LEAST those two super bowls, possibly more. people talk about how clutch he is in the playoffs, but his defense and ground game both years (if i recall correctly, i've looked it up in the past but not in a while)was nearly tops in the postseason. aaron rodgers, he of the 4-year $134 million contract, has only won the super bowl once. in both the regular season and post-season, he had the 2nd ranked scoring defense that year.

we saw what romo could do with a team around him in 2014, and he was what, 3rd in MVP voting that year? definitely top 3 that year.

overall, he's an undrafted free agent with the 4th-highest passer rating of all time. even when he was (ignorantly)mocked as being a choker, his stats were among the best in the league. in the 4th quarter, from 2006-2014 (his last year of playing), his completion % and YPA are 1st in the league. td:int ratio 4th. qbr 6th.

from 2006-2014, he led 27 game-winning drives, most in the league. overall, wins aren't quarterback stats, but game-winning drives sure are.

i remember hearing about how romo wasn't really a leader, about how he didn't elevate the players around him. bullshit - he made dez bryant and terrance williams. what have they done without him? nothing.

i do hope to see him as a coach someday.

You only start 1QB 1 WR 1 RB 2FLEX(RB/WR) 1 TE 1K 1 DST. Just the actual structure of your team is fixed like you must have exactly 4 RB on your team. You can start 1-3 RB each week though. So my default lineup is Brady, Barkley, Cook, Hilton, Sanders, Graham, Carlsen, Denver. Then once injuries/suspensions play out maybe rotate in Jeffery/Edelman/Mack. Like as long as Wentz comes back by Brady's bye him missing time is no big deal.

Guys Philip Rivers gets so disrespected in this fantasy league. I understand in normal scoring leagues why he drops to later rounds, but in a completion % league he is a monster (was #5 last year). He had a couple down years (and even then he was a pretty reasonable starter) so people forget. Their o line looks better which should lead to fewer sacks. His division rivals are soft on defense except Denver. Dude is gonna ball out this year.

I highly doubt Rivers will finish outside the top 10 barring serious injuries to his team (certainly possible given their track record). Stay sleepin.

Yeah Rams are legit. The offense is rolling. The defense is good, and came up with key plays. It's true that they gave up 31 points, but they snuffed out all hope of a running game. Cousins made a several fantastic throws, Diggs and Thielen were both incredible too. Teams without those offensive weapons aren't putting up 31 on LA.

Zeke, Michel, and Peterson/Wilson. Ravens have the 3rd ranked rushing defense and are still playing for the division/wild card, so I wouldn't start Ware. The last spot is between Peterson and Wilson. Denver and NYG both have shitty run defenses, but the Broncos have more to play for right now. But I also think Wilson will get more volume than Peterson.

I'd probably go Zeke, Michel, and Wilson.

Your team is fresh off a nearly 100-point week. Our matchup is going to be close, and thats only if Tate and whoever I start between White and Adams manage to get involved in their respective offenses.

edit: also Mcaffrey is projected to do better than any RB has done against the Saints all season, and while I understand that he's been on fire, I think their projection is too high.

McCaffery+White/Adams > Mixon+Lindsay slightly

Defense and kicker I would say slight advantage me but that's hard to predict.

I would feel better if Rodgers wasn't playing at Chicago. Goff just went -9 against Chicago. Don't see Rodgers putting up big points.

Probably won't start Keenum. It might be the right play, but I couldn't handle Rodgers going off on my bench and losing for that reason. I'm okay with losing with Keenum on the bench and having a good game. In all likelihood they're both going to be trash next week.

EDIT: According to the all-time "points from players drafted" stat, either my draft this year was the best in the history of this league, or I sucked at the waiver wire this year.

Exciting final score, truly the best two teams at the end.

I was salty that I missed the playoffs after an unlucky 0-5 start, but a lot of my team got hurt near the end anyway. I'll be back coming hard next year.
