I've never played LoL but some of the beta testers have noted some similarities. Thing is , the grid based movement and map size remove alot of the dead time most RTS have.
Also , no RNG - blocking or dodging is done manually. It looks like complicated - but some of the players went from using only 4 units to 10. In fact , the recording came from a player with no gaming background whatsoever. The key is to make sacrifices and position your units in a way to allow them to take advantage of their AI while you focus on more critical points of the match. The HP is also generous and Units have a revive mechanic. There is alot of time to register an attack and decide to act. Testers usually pick a lot of units for more coverage in a match.
