Trying to get my notes together for the draft tonight. 1 QB, 2 WR, only 1 RB?, 1 TE, 1 flex, 1 kicker, 1 defense for the starters, right? I haven't played in a league with only one starting RB before, for anyone who reads this today, does that make RB more or less important over the course of a season? Like, is it easier to generate average points because you only have 1 slot to fill and you have several backups, or does it become more stressful trying to find the hot hand each week? EDIT: I know there's a flex spot that could house a second RB, but I'm used to finding 3 decent RBs each week unless a WR is going nuts on my bench.

Hulky gave me the gist of the QB situation: prioritize more completions and a higher % because of the league scoring. Any other tips for a TAO first-timer that you wouldn't mind sharing? My experience has been the last 5 years in exclusively 12 or less team leagues without PPR.

Three decent RBs in this league is a waste. What would make sense is like if you have Zeke, some RB2 and then your RB3 is Zeke's backup or something like that.

Mahomes for example is basically clear cut pick #1. If he's not then whoever picks second is super excited. Assuming he goes first though, then they pick uh 40th overall for their second pick. Maybe they get Chris Carson at 40, then they are 41 and take Chris Godwin. 1 RB 1 WR 1 RB and next pick is uh 61? Now you are in the Jamarr Chase, Odell off ACL, Raheem Mostert range. I might be way off but that's how it talent drops here. In a 12 man you get a lot more swings to build depth. Depth isn't real here and your sleepers in normal leagues are like mid-late picks here. It's wild but plan on like 2 Flex-worthy RBs and 2 or 3 flex worthy WRs in a normal league and try and land a top-ish tier RB and WR in the first 3 rounds. The other top pick is either RB, QB, WR, or an elite TE like Kelce or whatever.

Mahomes and the top guys are going to be far more impactful than you'd expect. Every QB that starts in real life aside from like maybe a Texan if Deshaun isn't clear situation or someone like Darnold. They all will be picked up or drafted though for the most part because 20 starters + 8-12ish teams will take a back up. The teams without basically punt their bye week. Some will likely take a Trey Lance, Justin Fields or whoever looks like will be a late starter but isn't technically a starter yet.

Check out some of our leagues past drafts and kinda get a feel

Round 1 will have at least 2 top QBs go typically. Usually 4ish by round 2. Then a run will happen either in rounds 3, 4 or 5.

    RB, RB, WR, QB

    RB, WR, QB, WR

    WR, WR, RB, QB

    QB, WR, WR, WR

    WR, QB, RB, WR

those are basically the common openings with threeish teams will probably throw a TE in their for Kelce, Kittle and Waller.

Thanks Hulky! I tried looking for past drafts but couldn't find the page via this year's group.

Also defense is a little more important to not draft in the final round in this league because there will be a lot fewer on waivers. It's still sort of a crapshoot to predict sometimes but having a good one is more important in this league than in a smaller league where you can do waiver pickups to play matchups

The first defense usually goes somewhere in rounds 6-8 if I remember correctly

Also you'll see this when you look at the draft boards but positional runs (e.g. like 5 qbs in 8ish picks or so) are definitely more significant and panic-based than in a smaller league with less distance between picks

Edit: I guess this post was made after the draft lol

At least Sano took both James Robinson along with Etienne because that could have been nightmare mode
