This was like fucking perfect for him. He knew this was going to be a huge deal here because of how storied his time in New England is, like him or not you could argue it's on par with like Jordan or Bird or any other storied great in a sport. There was no way this was going to go down smoothly. Brady's dad actually famously said years ago on a radio talk show he didn't see how things could possibly end well in New England, because he knew Brady would want to just keep playing and Bellicheck is way too pragmatically brutal to sign an aging quarterback. So him being able to quietly put the news out he's leaving New England, which like him or not is objectively huge news, while there's something massively overshadowing it, was like hitting the lottery for him.
