Elliott can't be suspended for the playoffs...

The NFL has said he wouldn't be able to play in playoff games if he hadn't served the entire susnepsion before the playoffs start. Which is stupid considering the language in the suspension that they wrote says "regular season games"

If they try it then it will undoubtedly lead to even more litigation and Roger Goodell looking like even more of an assclown

Me too.
I’ve never seen someone suffer a season ending achilles injury and spend the rest of the game hopping on the sideline, rooting on his team. He wouldn’t even sit. He’s never missed a game.
Sherman is an awesome player and an awesome teammate.

bludhoundz
11-10-2017, 12:08 PM
I've grown to like Sherman. Especially when he called reporters muggles while wearing a Harry Potter costume.

Its strange because Collinsworth pointed out that you could see Sherm tell Russ that he tore his achilles, but he was still hobbling around. Most guys need a stretcher for that injury, so you can tell hes tough

bdog1321
11-10-2017, 12:44 PM
yeah there's a lot of classless bullshit going around with this injury. to even play with an achilles he knew was going to explode eventually at any given moment, takes serious balls.

11-12-2017, 07:36 PM
Injuries have been rough. Tyron Smith, Zeke, Sean Lee, and even Bailey out. All important players being missed. With Smith out, Dak has been getting killed. Morris can't make magic happen like Zeke. Nugent missed a FG Bailey probably makes. But maybe the most important...Sean Lee. As soon as he left, Atlantas offense took off. The numbers with Lee and minus Lee are crazy.

for NFC I'd like Saints, Eagles or Vikings

Why is the AFC so goddamn boring every year? Only the AFC South is slated to have a new division winner this year. The AFC West is a massive disappointment (looks like I was right about the Broncos), the East is boring as always, and the North has been lame for a few years now.

Conversely the NFC has a new top dog in every division, and playoff stalwarts from last year sitting on the outside (GB, Dallas, Atlanta).

So my one friend has this nutty theory that the NFC is simply a better conference, always has been and always will be. Cracks jokes at how the Patriots only do well because "they beat up on shitty teams from the AFC." Of course he's a complete idiot, the AFC historically has been a tough conference. But the past few year it's been looking like it has very little parity which is really lame, it's so top heavy and there always seems to be a game in wild card weekend that's just a laugher (Chiefs Texans, Texans Bengals, etc).

Hulky
11-16-2017, 11:50 AM
NFC was super top heavy before the salary cap with SF/DAL/MIN being the relevant teams kinda agree in the 2000s though with boring AFC.

Cowboys might be worse than the Giants, lol. What is that, 3 weeks in a row of under 10 points? Jesus.

With regards to the Giants game, they didn't really deserve to win. Almost no first downs in the second half, tons of drops, and getting manhandled in the field position game all day. The only thing I'll say is that the Redskins got away with more holding than I've ever seen missed in a game before, and the refs also missed the facemask that led to Eli's sack on 4th down ending the game, as well as late contact to our punter on a 4th and 2 that would have kept that drive alive as well. Even with all that, the GMen were flat on offense and probably would have lost anyway, but it was pretty insane to watch all the missed calls.

The Giants aren't benching Eli because they want to win guys. They want to tank the rest of the season, and maybe evaluate the other QBs on their roster. Eli isn't even having a bad year, it's just that the team blows. They should have traded Eli before the deadline to get some picks and give him the chance to continue playing somewhere. Wouldn't be surprised if he's trade din the offseason, though.

Elite no, but I think the latter is a *bit* harsh... I mean I definitely agree it hasn't been what it used to be and he's definitely missing far more balls then he should, but Dez used to be arguably the best jump ball guy and physical catch receiver in the league. I don't think he ever really came fully back from that Jones Fracture. And this year it seems like either Dak or Dez fucks up every time they try to connect. Either Dak just misses the pass or Dez doesn't adjust well for the ball. And I think those things can be blamed on both more than the individual. Dez is probably getting so many random ball placements from Dak that he has no idea what to expect half teh time and that's not good for chemistry.

But I do agree he hasn't looked very good this year, don't get me wrong.

agreed, bludz is way too harsh there

before the last game (5/6 for 61 yards and a touchdown)dez was targeted something like 104 times, but only 60 of them were catchable. he caught 53 of them, with 7 drops.

dez ain't the problem

KBHoleN1
12-01-2017, 02:58 PM
I was watching a Cowboys game recently - I think it was the Chargers game on Thanksgiving because I think Romo was commentating - where the commentators were talking about Dak's fade routes to Dez in the endzone. It makes sense that it was Romo talking, because he was saying how Dez really likes the ball high and outside so he can leap and grab it with his hands above the defender. But every pass they'd analyze Dak was throwing it too far towards the field and too low so that Dez couldn't go up and over to secure the catch. He was having to reach around the defender to try to find the ball and he just couldn't secure them. Last night, you saw Dak throw it way up high and towards the back shoulder and Dez just stopped, jumped, and went up and snagged it for a clean catch.

I think Dak's low rating throwing to Dez has as much to do with his poor ball placement as it does with Dez not being as elite anymore. Dez never got a lot of separation, but he could snag balls that Romo was delivering to him - throwing your receiver open. Dak doesn't do a lot of that, he just tries to throw up a jump ball and hope Dez can outfight then defender for it. That's not going to work as often. I miss the chemistry Dez and Romo had before the back injuries.

bludhoundz
12-01-2017, 04:27 PM
You guys all make good points and I won't say Dez isn't talented. I do agree he had better chemistry with Romo.

But he's not playing the way that he was known for for those few years. He definitely used to get more separation on downfield routes, had a better catch rate, and did lots of things better. I'm not really concerned with if it's his injuries or whatever. His name brand at this point RIGHT NOW has a much higher stock than he's actually playing like. So yeah maybe I'm exaggerating how bad he is, but at the same time the announcers still suck his dick like he's great when he's really not. It's kinda like Clay Matthews, who hasn't had a double digit sack season since his like rookie year or something? But the commentators talk about him like he's some top tier player still

AJ Green caught a 61 yard TD on a second half drive that ended up netting the Bengals only 3 points after it was called back. Gio Bernard was called for holding TJ Watt, and it was extremely minor. Like yeah technically he held him, but holding happens on every play - you really only expect it to be called when it's blatant. There was barely anything there.

I didn't think Thielen was this good. I also didn't think their o-line would be this much better.

Honestly I think it's been a fine season with some good games. Not great football all around but it's not like it was like that last year either. Hell, last year's NFC Champion Falcons didn't really look like a powerhouse until they were actually in the playoffs.

Hulky
12-06-2017, 04:30 PM
I think the issue has been the storylines. It's hard to accept things like Vikings dominance without Bridgewater or Bradford or Cook. It's hard to look at the LA Rams lead by a terrible rookie Goff, that is a legit power house. It's hard to see the Eagles run away with the east while the super power rookie combo in Dallas has issues and NFC East superstars like Dez, Eli and Odell all struggle, get benched, or are out for the year. On the AFC the failures of the AFC West removed the story lines of potentially great Chiefs and Raiders and replaced with a trio of .500 Chargers, Chiefs, and Raiders. It's just yuck. The hype of AP in NOLA was a bust, but NOLA has the superstar duo of Ingram and Kamara. It's still pretty good football, it's just not the story lines we were fed going into the season. I think that failure of storylines has sunk a bunch of fantasy teams as well which has made it seem flukey.

Like look at our TAO league draft:
Aaron Rodgers - IR
David Johnson - IR
Le'Veon Bell - slower start than usual
Tom Brady
Antonio Brown
Julio Jones - slower start than usual
Devonta Freeman - Concussion issues
Drew Brees - very good, but the TD's have shifted to their RBs this year
Odell Beckham Jr. - IR
A.J. Green - Suspended for a fight during close playoff races, but good
LeSean McCoy - Bills retardation has limited him
Jordy Nelson - Rodgers on IR
Matt Ryan - something like 12th best QB after MVP year
Jay Ajayi - traded to Eagles and has had limited carries there
Melvin Gordon - TDs have made good games, but yards aren't there
Rob Gronkowski - Suspended for playoff game
Dalvin Cook - IR
Jordan Howard - Some really bust games and Cohen stole the show early on
Mike Evans - Suspended a game, I don't think he's had a 100 yard game.
Ezekiel Elliott - Suspension

A lot of the earlier round guys too have been pretty rough, and although unknowns or underrateds like the Vikings pair of WRs, Kamara, Alex Smith, Carson Wentz, Josh McCown, Watson pre IR, and Evan Engram have stepped up it's kinda an okay year at best in terms of the guys you root for have jerseys for that superstar class and the hyped teams have underwhelmed.

bludhoundz
12-06-2017, 09:46 PM
I think the storylines are fine. Just because they aren't what you were expecting doesn't make them not compelling.

Kamara is the most exciting young player in the NFL

The Vikings could get a home superbowl

Jaguars

NFC South is super competitive

LA Chargers could finally be putting it together

NFC East turned upside down again

I really don't see how the Rams storyline "isn't compelling" just because it's such a big turnaround. Doesn't make sense to me

I wanna see Watson and Wentz return healthy before we anoint them as the next batch of good QBs to carry the league though but it's really crippling for the NFL's image, especially this year with all the injuries, to really get people to continue to push and play for the NFL I think. I mean money talks tho.

Rodgers Brady Luck Stafford Rivers Wilson Ryan Big Been and Manning are all probably gonna be gone in the next 5 years. They younger guys hitting the top end of 5.

my mvp votes as of right now:

1. Russell Wilson
2. Antonio Brown
3. Tom Brady

Wilson IMO was already ahead of Brady, since he accounts for so much of his own offense. Leading rusher, accounted for all offensive TDs but 2, making magic happen behind a porous offensive line all year. Losing sorta hurts his candidacy but at the same time he's still the guy IMO. Honestly I might've voted for him over Wentz before the injury too, who had a lot more help from his O-Line, playmakers, and running game (and schedule).

cowboys playoffs basically depend on the falcons losing out after tomorrow (of course they'll beat the bucs)against the panthers and saints, and the lions losing at least 1 more.

that's IF we win out!

Don't you need the Seahawks to lose again too?

BTW, I was at the Giants / Eagles game today. The stadium had nearly as many Eagles fans as Giants fans, and they were most certainly louder and more unified. Speaks to the story of each team's seasons, I guess.

It was a pretty good game but I thought it was a pretty BS no-call at the end, when a Giants receiver appeared to be interfered with on 4th and goal. I believe they could have scored and won, had it been called.

Philly will probably be fine on offense without Wentz, but this is the second time this year that Eli has shredded the defense, and this time they were healthy. I still think they have good defensive personnel but I was very confused by Jim Schwartz running single-high safety on 95% of their plays, when our passing game was working but the run game was middling at best. Not gonna say they have big problems on defense because I think this was partially due to the playcalling, but there may be some cause for concern. Presently, I'd probably be more confident in any of the other NFC division winners to win a playoff game.

PS: Eagles special teams continue to be exceptional, though

I actuallt watched part of the patriots steelers game. Literally the only game worth watching all year. For a person who hates football anyways. I will crawl back in my hole now until the superbowl.

Why wouldn't the Raiders call timeout in that sequence? Why let the clock run once the Cowboys get inside the 5? Bryant's catch came with 3:02 left on the clock. Cowboys ran one more play before the 2-minute warning. You let them burn 1/3 of your available time without doing anything to stop them. You're going to need as much time as possible to score to tie or take the lead. Isn't 2:45 left on the clock with no timeouts better than using all your timeouts on the other side of the 2-minute warning? This isn't fucking rocket science. Even if you just use one after Dez's catch then see what happens, you've saved 40 seconds.

that was the strangest game i have ever seen.

when the touchback happened i just kinda laughed and shook my head. strangest way to "win" a game.

but let’s be honest here: that kind of performance has us losing by 24 to the eagles or rams or vikings. we’re going nowhere. even if zeke is back, we lost smith (again)for what looks like a few weeks at least, and hitchens' season looks to be over after he was tearing it up.

no, even if they won today we'd have the same record + tie breaker if we beat them. now if we beat them their season will be over as they'll have 7 losses.

Nick foles only really had to deal with short field all game, and Giants D is cheeks. Would temper expectations of foles.

The Butcher

Temper expectations?

I think that's a ridicilous statement to make..

Firstly, our God amongst men starting quarterback is out for the year, right near the end of a historically good year. Our expectations are already "tempered"

As for Foles... the last time the Eagles won the division, it was with Nick Foles.

Nick Foles came in the game that Wentz got hurt, and led a comeback win.

Nick Foles started the next game and threw 4 touchdowns, with no interceptions, against a team that REALLY wanted to fuck up his day.

That all being said, I think my expectations of Foles are just right. I would like the team to continue to win and that's what he has done. Should I just pack it in and say the season is over like the rest of these(not you, i mean the 'experts') idiots say?

Sorry.. not trying to sound like a prick, but, what the fuck. That's such an anti-Eagles or The Cheat talking about sports thing to say lol.

Foles blows, his supporting cast is unbelievable tho

Yeah last time the eagles won the division it was with him. BUT, and it's a huge but, that was chip kelly's gimmick offense before it was figured out. Foles could never do that again.

Except the two times he's already done it this year?

Look, Wentz is better than Foles. No one is denying that.

Wentz isn't playing though. And the guy who is playing, is winning.

My point is the last time everyone thought Foles was good he went to Arizona to be a starting QB and flamed out, only to come back as a backup in Philly if my memory serves me right. He's good enough to keep you in games, but I wouldn't bank on a deep playoff run with Foles is all im saying.

well we're already pretty deep in the playoffs after he clinched us a first round bye.

I'm not going to hate on my own team, I'm sorry. I think he's a great kid and I hope he does really well. He can do really well, as he's proven many times already.

Foles looked fine, they can definitely win games with him. It's the defense that's looking suspect, IMO. Not to say they won't make a run, 'cuz the NFC is wide open

That was Kevin Kolb that went to Arizona, Foles went to Jeff Fischers horrid offense that made Goff look like a massive bust, and Case Keemun has been real outside that Rams team too.

I thought Foles went to the Rams. During the reign of Jeff Fisher and his pretty shitty offensive scheme.

Nah man, you have been so completely wrong about myself and Eagles fans from the get go. I am part of the fan base, we are not separate. We have a very very very long memory actually. We know exactly which super bowls we've gone to and how many points we lost them by. We know that we made runs 4 years in a row with McNabb and didn't win.

All I ever said was, Foles was good. And everything you've said since then to debunk that fact has been silly and you just are coming off as a hater.

Trying to paint me or Eagles fans in the light of blinding following a back up quarterback thinking he's a God who will 100% win everything though is weak, and untrue. We know he can, though. He's won before and he's done it here. He knows he can win here, he knows this is his best shot to win it all.

It's kind of exciting. Stop trying to take that away.

i hope the AFC gets better soon. i really do. appreciate the rise of the jaguars and all, but the teams fighting for the wild card are just bad. and honestly, the top 5 seeds in the NFC might be better than every single AFC team. yeah i said it, pats fans. Carolina won in New England and they aren't even winning their own division
