If they change it, it will be to something dumb.

Damn Mahomes is getting paid! :O
I like reminding my Falcons co-worker of 28-3

95% sure it's the Washington Warriors
When Dan Synder bought the rights to an arena team he was going to name them the Warriors so he obviously likes the name and probably owns the rights to the name from thinking about arena in 99. With Warriors they dont need to change the logo or anything immediately either.
that's not really accurate
Cam Newton
Base Salary $1,050,000
Roster Bonus +$87,500
Per game active bonus: +$43,750 ($700,000 LTBE [likely to be earned bonus])
Incentives: +$6.5M
Deadcap: $550,000 (only matters if he is cut this is how much the Patriots cap gets hit)
Basically if Cam starts and is healthy and plays like healthy Cam (not necessarily MVP Cam) it's 1 year $8,337,500 (or $1,837,500 if he makes the team as second or third string and never plays)
Mahomes 2020 deal is
Base salary: $825,000
Signing bonus: $10,000,000
So his 1 year 2020 salary is 10,825,000
The signing bonus is given to him right away but counts as 2mil per year for 5 years.
The rest is structured like this (these are the years with the signing bonus attached from above)
2020 $825,000 + 0 roster bonus (you have to be on roster to collect this, it's not guaranteed unless you are on the team by X day at the start of the league year)
2021 $990,000 + $21,716,905 roster bonus (so 22.x mil)
2022 $1,500,000 + $27,400,000 roster bonus (29.x mil)
2023 $5,500,000 + $34,400,000 roster bonus (40.x mil)
2024 $2,500,000 + $34,900,000 roster bonus (38 mil)
from 2025 to 2031 there is $0 dead cap space. So the Chiefs can leave at any point from there on out. This is relevant because he has a $59,950,000 number at 2027 which if he isn't today or better Pat Mahomes that's an obvious exit point for them.
Assuming they don't pay that 60mil year or anything after that this is a 5 year deal for 141.4mil with two team option years $41,950,000 per year (making it 7 years) no guarantee or penalty to cut, then the expensive years (60mil, 45mil, 45mil, 50mil, 52mil).
Russell Wilson got 4 yrs / $140,000,000
So Mahomes got 5 yrs / $141,481,905
lot less expensive if you look at it that way (which is how they actually pay it out, he very likely wont get the 60mil year or anything past that unless its market value or underpaid at that point)

Who will be the first athlete to have a billion dollar contract?
